Mitsubishi Electric Australia has introduced the new MSZ-GL series of air conditioners, with innovation built-in to provide fast and exceptionally quiet units to Australian homes.
Brisbane is not the kind of city where you can really live without air conditioning. While most of the other major eastern cities in Australia need to be more concerned with heating, here in Brisbane cooling is a top priority.
Aircon specialists & technicians in Brisbane
Bay Air Electrical is here to help you with all your air conditioning needs. We can help you with choosing the best system to meet your needs, installation, repairs, and maintenance.
That last item is a very important one, and should not be neglected. The tropical environment with high humidity means there is a greater need for proactive aircon maintenance in Brisbane. Air conditioners that are not well maintained may be more likely to fail or break down.
Repairs are much more costly than simply taking proper care in the first place, and there’s also a safety issue to consider. Air conditioners are electrical products with moving parts, chemicals, gasses, and a lot more exposed metal than the typical electric appliance. This is because the heat exchange process of the air conditioner usually relies on transfer between the metal and the surrounding air.
Regular inspection and maintenance of your air conditioning unit will avoid the potential dangers that can result when these systems fail.
How to know if your air conditioner has developed a problem
Eventually, all air conditioners will be subject to wearing out, but if you take proper care you can delay that event horizon for as long as possible. It can be helpful to know how to recognize the symptoms that will indicate you may need to repair or replace your air conditioner.
The first sign of a problem is most often that the unit simply stops doing its job. This doesn’t always mean the air conditioner is broken. Sometimes it may just be that somebody has messed around with the settings on the remote control in such a way that reversing what they’ve done is a complex procedure.
Another clear sign of a problem is if your air conditioner begins making unusual sounds. These could range from a whining noise all the way through to rattles and clunks. Generally speaking, all sounds other than a regular and continuous motor sound can be interpreted as a bad sign. Each different kind of sound can indicate a different kind of problem.
If you are hearing those unusual sounds from your air conditioner, it would be best to stop using it until it has been checked by a licensed technician.
A much worse situation, which definitely means you should immediately stop using the air conditioner and even shut off the power to it from the safety switch on your meter box, is if you notice smoke, sparks, flames, or a burning smell coming from the unit.
These indicate serious internal damage and if not attended to immediately may result in a fire or even an explosion. The chemicals, plastics, and internal electronic components (such as semiconductor chips which contain highly toxic compounds) will give off dangerous vapours if they burn.
You can be in even more danger from smoke inhalation than from the heat of the fire. Therefore it is clearly the case that you will want to avoid a scenario where this could happen. Proper maintenance will greatly reduce all of the potential risks.
